Equally, Kudos to Darrell Horton for his service on NACM’s National Board as a Director and ultimately Chairing the board in 2022. When asked about his experience on the board, he said, “Serving on NACM’s board and ultimately as the Chairperson has been one of the biggest honors of my career as a credit professional. I am humbled and honored to have had the opportunity to serve on the board of an organization that is 127 years old and has approximately 15,000 members. Thank you to all my fellow credit managers for giving me the opportunity. It has been an educational experience that has been filled with joy, pride, laughter, personal and professional growth, understanding, and, yes, some stress. I would not have missed it for the world! I had some goals when I joined the board, and I can say that most were met or are in motion. As my time on the board ends, I can say that I will truly miss it, even the stressful parts, because with the stress comes growth and learning. Thinking back, I remember attending my first Credit Congress and being simply overwhelmed and impressed with everything about NACM, something that still hits me today. Even beyond Credit Congress, NACM has so much to offer a credit person, from attending industry groups, educational sessions at regional or national conferences, formal classes, and learning from other credit managers who have been willing to share expertise when it is needed. Yes, I will miss being on the board, but I will keep supporting NACM always — I owe them too much not to. To anyone who is thinking of serving in any capacity I sincerely encourage you to do so, it will pay you back far more than you will ever put into it, I am living proof of that.”
Darrell, we are proud of your service on the national board creating a path for future credit professionals! You’ve been a pillar of support and truly a fabulous mentor to those around you.
